The COVID 19 pandemic is a challenge for society as a whole: We need novel therapies and medicines, networked logistics systems and sound information strategies. Only in this way can we protect ourselves, our economy and our coexistence from the consequences of the crisis.

Our researchers support this process from the very beginning. For example, they prepare model calculations on the spread of the disease, investigate long-term courses and develop test strategies and devices. At the same time, they are also monitoring the social and psychological consequences of the pandemic, for example among children and young people. For local authorities in Germany, they also developed the central IT system for tracking risk contacts.

To ensure that their knowledge reaches as many people as possible, our experts engage in intensive exchange with politicians and the media. To prevent future pandemics as well, we work with holistic research approaches and in interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
