Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm is Senator of the Helmholtz Association for the Research Field "Energy" and Director of the Energy Systems and Market Design Lab at the University of Technology Nuremberg.

After studying economics and sociology at the Universities of Hamburg and Kiel, Veronika Grimm earned her PhD in economics from Humboldt University of Berlin. Following a two-year assistant professorship at the University of Alicante, she worked as a senior academic researcher at the University of Cologne from 2005 to 2007.
Between 2008 and 2024, she held the Chair of Economics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and simultaneously served as Director of the Laboratory for Experimental Research Nuremberg (LERN). From 2017 to 2021, she chaired the scientific board of the Energy Campus Nuremberg, where she has led the research area “Energy Market Design” since 2010.
Since 2018, Veronika Grimm has been an active member of several advisory bodies, including the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs, and the Energy Steering Panel of the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC). She is part of the monitoring commission for the “Energy of the Future” process and, since April 2020, a member of the German Council of Economic Experts. In 2024, she was appointed Professor at the Technical University of Nuremberg, where she leads the Energy Systems and Market Design Lab.
Her research focuses on energy markets and their modeling, behavioral economics, social networks, and market design. For her successful transfer of scientific insights into practice, she has received several honors, including the Bavarian Order of Merit and the Gustav Stolper Prize of the German Economic Association.
