Helmholtz-Data Federation (HDF)

Measurement results, patient records, model calculations: Research data form the foundation of our scientific work. Responsible handling of this valuable data and its innovative use is therefore a key concern for us.

The Helmholtz Data Federation (HDF) implements this challenging task. The initiative safeguards the Helmholtz Association's data-driven research with state-of-the-art hardware, innovative software and excellent support. At the same time, it develops solutions for the meaningful use of data: For example, the HDF ensures that researchers at different locations can access the databases relevant to them. It also regulates ownership and access rights. Data is stored in such a way that it will be available to future generations and technologies. Wherever necessary, sensitive content is protected in accordance with the latest standards.

Multidisciplinary data centers form the core of the HDF. They operate with a strong thematic profile at currently six Helmholtz centers:
