Helmholtz Software Award

Research software is a central pillar of science. It enables new scientific breakthroughs and is, at the same time, a standalone outcome of scientific work. Yet the important contributions made by research software developers often go unrecognized. The Helmholtz Software Award shines a spotlight on their achievements.

It is announced annually by HIFIS, HiRSE, HIDA, and the Helmholtz Open Science Office.

The Helmholtz Software Award is presented in three categories:

  1. Best Scientific Software (5.000 Euro)
  2. Sustainability (3.000 Euro)
  3. Newcomer (2.000 Euro)

In this way, the Helmholtz Software Award sends a strong message of recognition for research software and the people whose work drives scientific progress.
