Prof. Dr. Corinna Salander is Senator of the Helmholtz Association for the Research Field "Aeronautics, Space and Transport" and Vice President Locomotives CNE at Alstom.

Corinna Salander received her diploma in physics from Kiel University in 1993 and completed her PhD at Clausthal University of Technology in 1999.

From 1999 to 2005, she worked in the field of EMC and Safety at Deutsche Bahn AG. Between 2005 and 2009, she held a senior position at the European Railway Agency, focusing on safety certification, before leading the Deutsche Bahn AG’s safety certification project for two years.

From 2014 to 2019, Corinna Salander was Professor of Railway Vehicle Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, where she continues to serve as an honorary professor. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Supervisory Board of KSB SE & Co. KGaA and of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). After three years in authorization management at Bombardier Transportation GmbH, she became Director of the German Centre for Rail Traffic Research (DZSF) in 2020 and, in 2023, assumed the position of Head of the Rail Department at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV).Since December 1, 2025, she is Vice President Locomotives CNE at Alstom.

Her research focuses on the reliability and wear of drive and running gear components and their interaction with infrastructure systems. In addition, she works on risk analysis, applying theoretical, statistical, and simulation methods to assess the impact of technical and operational innovations. Her expertise also includes the implementation of European railway legislation and vehicle approval processes.
