Challenge #86

The future of safe autonomous driving.

The cars of the future will drive themselves. Our goals: safe driving behavior, security against attacks, and better data protection in autonomous vehicles.

Participating centers

The future of mobility is automated and interconnected. Driverless cars will soon fill our streets, and these vehicles will depend on the smooth functioning of the software that controls them. Digital vulnerabilities can quickly become a life-threatening risk for motorists.

That is why we are developing new concepts for vehicles and logistics wherein operations are networked but still shielded from external attacks. We also test vehicles and infrastructures in critical situations, simulating traffic systems and investigating applications such as autonomous parking and traffic management services.

We place particular emphasis on data security in autonomous driving, as vehicle manufacturers often collect much personal information about vehicle users from their body weight to their taste in music. This information must not fall into the wrong hands. In this way, we aim to make autonomous driving safe, not only on the roads but also in the data networks.
