Rolf Zettl re-elected as Managing Director of the Helmholtz Association

In a unanimous vote at the Helmholtz Association’s general assembly today, Dr Rolf Zettl was appointed to another five-year term as the Managing Director of the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren e.V. The assembly also voted to adopt new statutes expanding the Managing Director’s authorities and responsibilities. Dr Zettl was also appointed to the Helmholtz Association’s Executive Committee.

"The unanimous vote is an eloquent testimony to the success of Dr Zettl's work for the Helmholtz Association over the past years," said the President of the Helmholtz Association, Prof. Jürgen Mlynek. "The vote shows that the members of the general assembly want to see continuity in this important position. The amendment to the statutes reflects the increased scope of the remit and responsibilities of the Helmholtz Association's Managing Director and strengthens this important role. I warmly congratulate Dr Zettl and look forward to continuing to work with him."
Rolf Zettl earned his PhD in biology. Before taking on his position at the Helmholtz Association in 2008, he worked for the Max Planck Society as Managing Director of the German Human Genome Project Resource Center, as CEO of two biotechnology start-ups and as Head of Corporate Development at the Charité.
