Annual Event 2014

Science meets Industry:
working together for better health in Europe

Tackling grand societal challenges like demographic change – with all its consequences for the health and well-being of Europe’s citizens – can only be solved through strong research alliances joining the forces of industry and academic partners. Horizon 2020 both encourages and requires partnerships
between industry and academia.
Especially in the field of health research, the need to collaborate is mutual: Industry cannot meet the daunting demand for discovery research alone, and academic researchers need industry to develop the results of their efforts into new drugs and devices. Without a doubt, it is essential for such collaborations to be well balanced. How can we bring those different work cultures together so that they can interact most productively? How can health research results be most fruitfully used in Europe?

These were only two of the questions addressed during the Helmholtz annual event in Brussels in March 2014.
