SOOP – "Shaping an Ocean Of Possibilities for science-industry collaboration" aims to support the development of new instruments, specifically modular sensors. These sensors, jointly developed with industry partners, can be deployed on non-scientific vessels, such as private sailboats. Collected oceanographic and climate-relevant data will be made available on a jointly operated digital platform.They can be used to create and improve models of the ocean that simulate, for example, temperature, salinity, currents and other parameters. Using this data, we aim to contribute to new knowledge of our oceans, support stakeholders in decision-making, and help establish new services or early warning systems.

Light, flexible and adaptable - The Solar TAP innovation platform develops innovative solutions for photovoltaic applications. The aim is to make existing surface areas in agriculture, construction and transportation even more usable for the expansion of solar energy with printed solar cells. In this way, not "only" green energy is generated, but in certain applications additional benefits are created resulting in a "multi-benefit" for the respective application. Together with a network of industrial partners, Solar TAP is further developing the necessary technologies and transferring the results along the entire value chain "lab-to-fab" in order to quickly make these new PV solutions market-ready and accelerate the commercial use of the technologies.

Hi-Acts aims to open up accelerator technologies for industrial companies and applied research to make them easily accessible. Based on new knowledge from collaboration and a strong network, we want to create new market solutions for material research, the medical industry, new therapies or the energy sector.

Particle accelerators enable precisely these innovations in various fields of application: In material research, the spectrum ranges from high-performance semiconductors to novel and more sustainable materials, in medical development they help to develop novel tumor therapies or drugs. Hi-Acts will optimize and strengthen access to particle accelerators for industrial users across the Helmholtz centers.

Furthermore, novel approaches aim to shrink particle accelerators in order to develop reliable and miniaturized-systems for a wider range of applications - e.g. in hospitals. Thus, compact accelerators ideally complement existing and future large-scale research facilities.

Close collaboration of industry partners with scientific working groups is crucial for a successful transfer to shape entire value chains and to accelerate breakthroughs in deep-tech-innovations.
