Health Information Services

The Cancer Information Service provides comprehensible and scientifically sound information on the topic of cancer. The service is aimed at sufferers and their relatives and at people who want to find out about topics such as prevention and early detection. We also provide experts in cancer therapy with individually researched facts.

On the Internet, by telephone or in our consultation hours in Heidelberg and Dresden, we provide references to important addresses and studies, inform about different types of cancer and their forms of treatment, or give important tips for everyday life with cancer - this includes, among other things, questions about insurance law or advice on psychological counseling.

Cancer Information Service (KID)

There is still no therapy for dementia patients that stops the deterioration of the nerve cells. New approaches to prevention and care are therefore all the more important. The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) provides medical professionals with advice via an information hotline. The hotline is staffed by experts in the field and provides information on diagnostics, care and clinical studies.

Allergy Information Service at Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU)

Hay fever, asthma, neurodermatitis: allergies are widespread. The Allergy Information Service of Helmholtz Zentrum München provides information about the various clinical pictures. The online portal offers up-to-date, scientifically based information and refers to recommended methods of diagnosis, therapy and prevention. Those affected can download helpful materials for everyday life from the website, such as pollen calendars, symptom diaries or a checklist for visits to the doctor. We are also happy to put you in touch with our scientists so that patients can discuss individual questions directly with experts.

Allergy Information Service

More and more people are developing diabetes worldwide, including in Germany. The national diabetes information portal diabinfo.de with its subportals Preventing Diabetes, Living with Diabetes and Information for Professionals is a joint service of Helmholtz Munich, the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf and the German Center for Diabetes Research. Funding is provided by the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA), the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

diabinfo.de offers up-to-date, neutral and scientifically proven information on all forms of diabetes mellitus as well as on the prevention of diabetes. Findings from medicine and diabetes research are presented in a generally understandable way.

National Diabetes Information Portal

Health Promotion Academy - Helmholtz Munich (helmholtz-munich.de)

With the "Health Promotion Academy", Helmholtz Munich is developing an information and learning platform for children and young people on the subject of "healthy living" and supports schools in the implementation of health projects.

Diabetes-related materials are also made available on the diabetes information portal (https://www.diabinfo.de/schule-und-bildung.html).

Knowledge transfer project "Fit in health issues" 

Teachers and schoolchildren are also confronted with the issue - either through affected classmates or through the illness of close relatives. As part of the Helmholtz-funded knowledge transfer project "Fit in Gesundheitsfragen", Helmholtz Munich and the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) have developed sound and innovative teaching materials on the topics of diabetes, cancer and health literacy.

The Lung Information Service of Helmholtz Zentrum München is aimed at people with lung problems - these can be chronic diseases such as asthma, COPD or pulmonary fibrosis, as well as acute conditions such as viral infections. On the website, sufferers and their relatives will find detailed, scientifically based information about their disease. We refer to current studies, specialist clinics and promising therapeutic approaches. The Lung Information Service regularly invites patients to lectures. Patients have the opportunity to contact our experts directly for individual questions. The German Center for Lung Research (DZL) supports this offer.
