Knowledge is mainly disseminated by people interacting and coexisting with each other. That is why the exchange between research and application, between Helmholtz Centers and businesses, is so important to us. It spreads our ideas and findings – and inspires us. Over the past few years we have developed a number of event formats to promote this exchange.
Start-up days have been held annually, alternating between Dresden and Bonn, since 2013. The two-day event is jointly organized by us and the Leibniz Association, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, and the Max Planck Society.
The start-up days offer a comprehensive range of lectures and workshops on a wide variety of topics related to setting up a business for scientists from the four research organizations who are interested in starting their own business.
At the event, up to 100 people interested in starting a business receive knowledge, tips, and tricks for their own start-up. Experienced entrepreneurs share first-hand accounts and inspire would-be entrepreneurs. The start-up days are also an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded individuals.
Helmholtz Employee Participation in the Start-Up Days
The event is primarily aimed at entrepreneurs and people who want to start their own business and are currently working at the research organizations. The event usually takes place in early September. Helmholtz members can get further information on registering from their transfer offices and at www.start-up-days.de.
