As a student, you have the opportunity to gain an early insight into the Helmholtz Centers or the Berlin Head Office.

Joint Deegree Programs

Some of our centers offer (dual) degree programs in collaboration with universities and technical colleges / institutions of applied sciences. At other Helmholtz Centers, you can work directly in research groups as "summer students". In this way, you can make initial contacts for further career steps, such as a doctorate, within the Helmholtz Association. For corresponding offers, please visit the websites of our Helmholtz Centers.

Final papers

Doing your bachelor or master thesis at a Helmholtz Center lets you become familiar with non-university research first hand. As a rule, students have the option of writing theses at Helmholtz in all research fields as well as in the technical field or in administration.

For theses, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the various fields of work at our Helmholtz Centers at an early stage and contact potential tutors. Further possible topics for student research projects and theses can be found on the job exchange. You can also contact a suitable Helmholtz Center on your own initiative.

Internships and Work-Study

Students have the opportunity to become familiar with everyday work at our Helmholtz Centers as part of an internship, a work-study position, or a practical semester – whether as an obligatory part of their studies or simply for personal career orientation.

All internship or student traineeship vacancies can be found on the job exchange, but you can also send an unsolicited application to one of our centers or to the Head Office.
