Prof Dr Monika Henzinger

Professor Monika Henzinger is senator of the Helmholtz Association for the research field Information. She is professor for computer science at the University of Vienna, Austria.

Monika Henzinger studied computer science at Saarland University and received her PhD from Princetown University, US in 1993. She then joined the Computer Science Department at Cornell University, New York, as assistant professor. From 1996 to 1999, she was a member of technical staff at the Systems Research Center of Digital Equipment Corporation in Palo Alto, California, and then took up a professorship for computer science at Saarland University.

In 2000, Monika Henzinger moved to the business sector as Director for Research at Google Inc, US. She returned to Europe in 2005, working as a professor for computer science at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Since 2009, she is professor at the Faculty for Computer Science of the University of Vienna, heading the research group Theory and Applications of Algorithms.

Monika Henzinger was a member of the Hochschulrat of the TU Munich from 2008 to 2015, and is an ACM and an EATCS Fellow. She received in 2013 an honorary PhD of the TU Dortmund as well as an ERC Advanced Grant.
