Prof. Dr. Sabina Jeschke

Professor Dr Sabina Jeschke is Senator of the Helmholtz Association for the research field Aeronautics, Space and Transport and has been a member of the Board of Directors, Deutsche Bahn AG since 2017.

Born in Sweden, Sabina Jeschke studied physics, computer sciences and mathematics at the Technical University (TU) Berlin. Following research periods at the NASA, the Ames Research Center California and at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, she received her doctorate as Dr rer. nat. in 2004.

In 2005, she became a junior professor at the TU Berlin, in conjunction with the development of the university’s media centre. In 2007, she took up a professorship at the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Department, Stuttgart University and was director of the Institute for IT Service Technologies, (IITS) as well as director of the Central Information Technology Services (RUS). In 2009, she was appointed to the faculty of mechanical engineering of the RWTH Aachen with a focus on information technologies and cybernetics in mechanical engineering.

From 2009 to 2017, Sabina Jeschke was director of the Cybernetics Lab IMA/ZLW & IfU, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, RWTH Aachen. From 2011 to 2016, she was vice dean of her faculty. Her key interests include artificial intelligence, internet of things and robotics and automation with focus on the application area traffic and mobility.

After research stays in Hong Kong and Singapore in 2015 and 2016, Sabina Jeschke spent a sabbatical at Volvo Cars Corporation in Göteborg, where she was involved in establishing a think tank for ‘Strong Artificial Intelligence’. She has gathered extensive industry expertise through her participation in numerous projects and cooperations with renowned companies, particularly in the fields of mobility, automobiles and logistics.
