About the organisers

Who is organising the Marie Curie Actions Roadshow?

The Marie Curie Actions Road Show is being organised by six major research organisations and their respective EU representations in Brussels. The idea is to promote the Intra European Mobility opportunities for the researchers under People Programme, which is part of the EU 7th Framework Programme (FP7). At the same time, the events will inform the participants of specific opportunities in six major research organisations in Europe.

Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres

The Helmholtz Association contributes to solving major challenges facing society, science and industry with top scientific achievements in six research areas: Energy, Earth and Environment, Health, Key Technologies, Structure of Matter, Transport and Space. With more than 32,000 employees in 18 research centers and an annual budget of approximately 3.4 billion euros, the Helmholtz Association is Germany’s largest scientific organisation. Its work follows in the tradition of the great natural scientist Hermann von Helmholtz (1821-1894).

CEA

The CEA is the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives). It is a public body established in October 1945 by General de Gaulle. A leader in research, development and innovation, the CEA mission statement has two main objectives: To become the leading technological research organization in Europe and to ensure that the nuclear deterrent remains effective in the future.
The CEA is active in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defence and security, information technologies and health technologies. In each of these fields, the CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research.
In 2011, the total CEA workforce consisted of about 15 600 employees. Across the whole of the CEA (including both civilian and military research), there were 1,360 PhD students and 300 post-docs.
In 2011, the CEA had a budget of about 4 billion Euros.

CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology

Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) is a centre of scientific excellence in the fields of life sciences and advanced materials and technologies whose aim is to establish itself as a prestigious European centre of science with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and conditions in place to employ the best researches. It is a consortium whose partners include Masaryk University, Brno University of Technology, Mendel University in Brno, University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno, Institute of Physics of Materials and Veterinary Research Institute.
The multi-departmental nature of CEITEC and the extent to which the fields of life sciences and advanced materials and technologies are integrated make it the first research centre of its kind in the Czech Republic. The instrumentation at its disposal will facilitate synergistic study in the subjects of life and material sciences on all currently available levels of complexity, starting with individual atoms, through molecules, molecule groups and cells to whole organisms.

CEITEC which is financed by the EU Structural Funds with total budget of € 208 mil. will create an environment for nearly six-hundred researchers.

TÜBITAK (in cooperation with TURBO)

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. TÜBİTAK is responsible for promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with national targets and priorities. It was established in 1963 with a mission to advance science and technology, conduct research and support Turkish researchers. The Council is an autonomous institution and is governed by a Scientific Board whose members are selected from prominent scholars from universities, industry and research institutions. TÜBİTAK acts as an advisory agency to the Turkish Government on science and research issues, and is the secretariat of the Supreme Council for Science and Technology (SCST), the highest S&T policy making body in Turkey. More than 1,500 researchers work in 15 different research institutes of TÜBİTAK where contract research as well as targeted and nation-wide research is conducted. TÜBİTAK is the national coordinating body of EU’s Framework Programmes.

IFIN-HH

With a contribution of almost 10% of the national scientific output, IFIN-HH is one of the most important public R&D organizations in Romania. The institute is dedicated to the research and development in physical and natural sciences, mainly Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering, and in related areas including Astrophysics and Particle Physics, Field Theory, Mathematical and Computational Physics, Atomic Physics and Physics of Condensed Matter, Life and Environmental Physics. In all these fields, IFIN-HH conducts theoretical and experimental research based on a large pool of researchers and a strong updated infrastructure.

Polish National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the European Union

Polish National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU (KPK) operates under the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences.
KPK was appointed in 1999 by the Ministry responsible for scientific research as a result of a national contest in connection with Poland's participation in the 5th Research Framework Programme of the European Union. Since then, our main goal is to promote the EU R&D programmes throughout Poland in various research and industrial areas. It is achieved through training, consultancy and coaching, facilitating partner search, encouraging project consortia creation and promoting international co-operation.
KPK operates as an umbrella for the entire 7th Framework Programme through a country-wide network with headquarters in Warsaw.
