The TTGR working group and coordination at the head office
Those managing the “transfer points” at the Helmholtz Centres meet within the Technology Transfer and Commercial Legal Protection (TTGR) working group. There is also a central coordinator for all the transfer points at the Helmholtz Association’s head office.
For over 25 years, the transfer points in the Helmholtz Centres have collaborated within a special working group. The TTGR group brings together around 25 technology transfer and patent experts from all 17 Helmholtz Centres The TTGR group meets twice a year and regularly invites external guests, such as representatives of transfer institutions of other non-university research associations, to these sessions.
Knowledge and technology transfer is decentralised within the Helmholtz Association and carried out independently by each Helmholtz Centre according to its own particular environment and research themes. Despite this, it is extremely useful for the individual transfer points to be able to discuss any new legal regulations, appropriate models for collaboration and contracts, commercial strategies and funding programmes. The TTGR working group is currently chaired by Dr Jens Fahrenberg, head of the Innovation Department at KIT, and the deputy chairman is Dr Eberhard Sauter from AWI.
