Helmholtz Association

Norms and standards

Lots of scientists working in Helmholtz Centres are active members of committees that set norms and standards, which means they play an important role in how knowledge is transferred into industry and society. Standardisation has a considerable impact on our ability to innovate and, in view of how it influences patenting, significantly affects how research findings are applied and the market entry options for new technologies.

The Helmholtz Association is actively striving to increase its involvement in standardisation and to render these processes more effective and transparent.

If you are a Helmholtz scientist working in this area or if you would like to become more involved and are interested in cooperating with other Helmholtz Centres, please contact the new Working Group for Norms and Standards. It is also possible to simply offer advice in your particular field, present your point of view or comment on a particular standardisation proposal without becoming a member of the standardisation committee. Contact the new working group and they can put you in touch with the relevant person for your subject area.
