Effective and economically efficient storage technologies are crucial to electric mobility and the energy turnaround. The demand for affordable high-performance battery systems suitable for daily use is growing. With funds granted by BMWi, a “research factory” will now be established for the manufacture of small series of lithium-ion cells. Here, new production technologies will be developed to meet very high requirements in terms of power density, usability, and economic efficiency.
