Easier Career Entry for Foreign University Graduates
Baden-Württemberg is one of the leading regions of industry and innovation in Europe and offers attractive opportunities for work and career to specialists from all over the world. Information on career entry especially for foreign students and post-graduates will be provided by “Your Future in Baden-Württemberg“ on Thursday, May 03, 9.30 hrs, at the Audimax on Campus South of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The event is initiated jointly by KIT and the Ministry of Finance and Economics of Baden-Württemberg. Surviving the conditions on Mars
Alpine and polar lichens could also survive on Mars. Planetary researchers at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) simulated the conditions on Mars for 34 days and exposed various microorganisms to this environment.

Signal Processing Without Limits
Boundaries between electronic and optical signal processing are fluid and open up new opportunities. This requires a new approach in research and education: Teratronics links electronics with photonics and nanotechnologies. It allows for the transmission of signals at high frequencies and attractive data transmission rates. The corresponding new Helmholtz International Research School for Teratronics (HIRST) at KIT will be opened officially on Thursday, May 3, 14 hrs. Representatives of the media are cordially invited.

Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy launched
The International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) presented the first Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy at the Clean Energy Ministerial Forum, which took place in London on 25 and 26 April 2012.

KIT Informatics Is Number One of HR Managers
For the third time in succession, the informatics program of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is ranked in first place in the university ranking of the WirtschaftsWoche magazine. This ranking is based on a survey of HR managers of large German enterprises. KIT’s programs of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and business engineering also reach excellent results and rank in second place. Natural sciences are third.
