Joint Technology Platforms

For the progression of systems biology, the production and integration of standardised information is inevitable. Therefore the Helmholtz alliance will concertedly expand existing experimental, IT and modelling techniques to provide an integrated efficient structure for all members of the alliance.

Experimental Platforms:

• Protein-Protein Interactions in Human Cells, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Erich Wanker
• Genome wide RNAi in human cells, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros

Platform for Information Exchange:

Additionally, a platform for distributed information exchange, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Hans-Werner Mewes and Dr. Volker Stümpflen, will develop basic technologies for the standardized data and knowledge management within the alliance.

Workshop-Announcement:
The Helmholtz-Zentrum Munich / IBIS is offering a hands on workshop about "Distributed and Semantic Cyberinfrastructure for Systems Biology" from October 15 until October 16 in 2009. It addresses everyone who wants to gain insights into the current methods and processes which underlie distributed systems and cyberinfrastructures. We will also perform hands on implementations and integrate distributed data in use cases.

Modeling and Simulation:

The modelling and simulation projects within each network hold regular meetings to exchange ideas, concepts, developments and results. Each network has further cooperations with other prominent partners outside of the Helmholtz association to further improve and interconnect the development of new technologies.

The Technology Platforms are coordinated by Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros, DKFZ Heidelberg and Dr. Volker Stümpflen, Helmholtz Zentrum München.
