Annette Barthelt Prize awarded

The marine scientists Judith Hauck from the Alfred Wegener Institute and Axel Moeller from the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht are awarded the Annette Barthelt Prize for their work on the Antarctic carbon cycle and on long-term pollutant distribution. They each receive a research scholarship to the amount of 3,000 Euro.

The prize is in commemoration of four young marine scientists from the then-time Kiel Institute for Marine Science, today's GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Djibouti.
