Sir Hans Krebs Prize 2012 for Professor Michael Platten

Prof. Michael Platten, working group leader at the DKFZ and neuro-oncologist at the Heidelberg University Hospital, is the recipient of the Sir Hans Krebs Prize 2012 awarded by the Friends of the Hannover Medical School. Platten has discovered that particularly aggressive brain tumours generate increased levels of a semiochemical resembling the environmental pollutant dioxin. This semiochemical lets brain tumours grow larger and weakens the immune system. The award is endowed with 10,000 Euro.
