News from the Beijing Office:
CSC Stipendiaries
In 2012, the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) will dispatch an estimated 25 scholarship holders to Helmholtz Association centres, in particular to the Research Centre Jülich, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technologie, the Helmholtz Centre Geesthacht and the Helmholtz-Zentrum München. It is quite possible that the CSC will select even more stipendiaries in 2012. Helmholtz centres able to offer collaboration in a research group to excellent scholarship holders from China ought to report these openings at the Helmholtz Office Beijing.
Key Technologies Cooperation
In April 2012 in Tianjin, Professor Dr Sebastian Schmidt, Member of the Board at the Research Centre Jülich, signed an agreement with the National Supercomputer Centre Tianjin. This Chinese supercomputing centre operates the fastest Chinese computer Tianhe-I (Milky Way or, literally, Sky River), which ranked first in the top 500 list of fastest computers in October 2010.
