GEOMAR is a Helmholtz Centre
The GEOMAR has at its disposal special research infrastructures allowing for observations at sea and in the deep sea, for example, the research vessel Maria S. Merian and the manned submersible JAGO. Photo: GEOMARWith effect of January 2012, the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences (IFM-GEOMAR) joins the Helmholtz Association and as of now adopts the name of GEOMAR | Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel.
