British Medical Association's Medical Book of the Year 2011:

From amongst 700 nominated publications, the book "Adult Neurogenesis 2" by Prof. Dr Gerd Kempermann from the German Research Association's DFG Research Centre for Regenerative Therapies Dresden – Cluster of Excellence (CRTD), who is also spokesman for the Dresden site at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), was awarded the title of "Medical Book of the Year 2011" by the British Medical Association (BMA). The BMA is the most important medical professional society in the United Kingdom. Gerd Kempermann is Professor for Genomics of Regeneration at the CRTD since 2007. Since 2009, he also holds the post of Dresden spokesman for the DZNE. His interdisciplinary team develops innovative strategies for successful ageing as well as for the prevention of dementia and for compensation methods for dealing with such cases.
