MDC Executive Prof. Rosenthal Member of Leopoldina:
Prof. Walter Rosenthal, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine (MDC) Berlin-Buch, has been elected member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. Prof. Rosenthal is a pharmacologist and toxicologist and in addition to his responsibilities at the MDC also holds a W3 professorship for molecular pharmacology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin university hospital. The Leopoldina currently has over 1,400 members in more than 30 countries and is thus – according to its own claims – the oldest and largest academy in Germany. It was founded in Schweinfurt in 1652 as a natural scientific-medical association and since 1878 is located in Halle/Saale. In 2008, it was declared the German National Academy of Sciences by the Joint Science Conference (GWK - Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz) of the German federal and state governments. With Prof. Rosenthal, a total of ten scientists from Berlin-Buch are a member of the Leopoldina.
