Plant Extract New Hay Fever Therapy

Researchers from the Centre of Allergy & Environment (ZAUM) of the HMGU German Research Centre for Environmental Health and the Technical University Munich showed that a plant extract can help in cases of hay fever. Allergic symptoms were significantly better assuaged than by application of traditional histamine receptor antagonists. The randomised double-blind clinical trial demonstrated that the plant extract Ze 339 (petasol butenoate complex) combats swollen nasal mucous membranes faster and more effectively. The extract seems to be effective not only in acute cases. The data also suggest a preventive effect, which requires further investigation.
