Volkswagen Foundation Sponsorship Award for Young Authors:
The Volkswagen Foundation endows its newly established sponsorship award Opus Primum for the best publication by a young author with 10,000 Euro. Opus Primum addresses young scientists under 35 years of age. The submitted publication has to be in the German language and ought to be written in a style rendering it accessible also to a broader circle of readers. Opus Primum supplements the sponsorship initiative "Science, the Public, and Society" by a funding line for science communication.
The award will be presented in Göttingen on 23 October 2011 together with the NDR Kultur Sachbuchpreis for nonfiction. The gala in the historic university auditorium concluding the Göttingen Literaturherbst (Autumn of Literature) provides the festive frame for the award ceremony.
Submitted books have to have been published between 1 October 2010 and 30 September 2011. Publishing houses can participate with up to three titles respectively. Direct nominations on one's own behalf are not permitted. Books can be submitted up until 31 July 2011.
