New Director for Clinical Research at the DZNE:
Prof. Dr Thomas Klockgether has been appointed new Director for Clinical Research at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). With this position he also assumes responsibility for coordinating the DZNE's clinical research across the various sites. In addition to his new function, Klockgether remains Director of the Clinic and Policlinic for Neurology at the University Hospital Bonn. Klockgether's work focuses on the early diagnosis of dementia and the development of new approaches to treatment. Klockgether studied medicine at the University of Göttingen and worked in basic research on Parkinson's disease at the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine. He spent his residency period in Tübingen where he specialised in the field of degenerative ataxia. Between 2008 and 2011, he was Dean of the Medical Faculty at the University of Bonn.
