Dr Dr Melanie Königshoff Receives DGP-Förderpreise 2011 Award

Melanie Königshoff receives the 2nd award of the DGP-Förderpreise 2011 sponsorship awards. Königshoff heads a team at the Comprehensive Pneumology Centre (CPC)  researching in how far damage to pulmonary epithelial cells may be involved in the development of diseases. With her research, Königshoff intends to illustrate whether pulmonary cells possess repair mechanisms and, if so, which mechanisms these are. This could lead to improved treatment of diseases such as chronic bronchitis or pulmonary cancer or even help to prevent these diseases.
