Twelve Virtual Institutes Newly Funded
The Helmholtz Association provides funds for twelve new Helmholtz Virtual Institutes. In these institutes, scientists from a Helmholtz centre work together with university colleagues on a joint topic. The Virtual Institutes are funded with up to 600,000 Euro per year over five years from out of the Initiative and Networking Fund. These funds are augmented by funds from the centres themselves, so that the total funding can amount to up to 900,000 Euro per year. In the context of the four calls for applications so far, 87 Virtual Institutes have received funding amounting to a total of about 67 million Euro and included 217 university partners from 55 different German universities.
