New Helmholtz Podcast
Tangled accumulation of tau proteins in nerve cells are typical of Alzheimer's disease. Yet only a certain kind of tau protein tends to form tangles. In an experiment with demented mice, Helmholtz researchers managed to switch off production of the "bad" tau protein. The surprising result: The mice's capacity for memory returned. In our July podcast you can find out whether loss of memory due to early stage Alzheimer's at least can be partly reversed.
