DLR Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Wörner Appointed for a Second Term of Office:

In June, the Senate of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) has appointed Prof. Dr Johann-Dietrich Wörner to serve as Chairman of the Executive Board of the DLR for another term of five years. After his twelve-year term of office as President of the Technical University (TU) Darmstadt, Prof. Wörner took up his office as Chairman of the Executive Board of the DLR in 2007. During his first term of office, he was able to effect key decisions pertaining to aerospace both on a national and an international level and thus stabilise and further expand Germany's position as a well-recognised high technology partner. Prof. Wörner will use his second term of office to continue to promote the DLR and to strengthen its role as a unique, interdisciplinary research institution and as a space agency. In addition to his work for the DLR Prof. Wörner is a member of numerous scientific supervisory bodies and academies and since 2000 heads the mediation process regarding the extension of the Frankfurt airport. In 2011, he prepared the dialogue forum on the "Stuttgart 21" railway project.
