Waiting for the Higgs Boson
Researchers at the world-wide largest particle accelerator LHC in Geneva have presented the hitherto most comprehensive search for the Higgs particle, the last missing element in the standard model of particle physics. This was the first time the teams from ATLAS and CMS combined their data. This paves the way for the "World Machine" LHC to solve the Higgs riddle by the end of 2012. DESY experts are involved in operating and evaluating the data from the LHC detectors.
