New Administrative Executive Director at the GFZ:

As of 1 December 2011, Dr Stefan Schwartze is the new administrative executive director of the GFZ. He succeeds Dr Bernhard Raiser, who served as administrative executive director since the GFZ's establishment on 1 January 1992. Raiser accompanied the GFZ's development and its further growth from 280 to some 1100 employees and has earned merits in the architectural development of the Potsdam Telegrafenberg on behalf of the user community, whose chairman he was for many years. Stefan Schwartze is a doctor of law. Prior to being appointed chancellor of the Westphalian Wilhelms University Münster in 2008, he held the position of administrative member of the Foundation Board of the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine (MDC) Berlin-Buch since 2003.
