DZNE Spokesman for Magdeburg Site Distinguished:
The Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg has awarded its Research Prize 2011 to Prof. Dr Emrah Düzel. The research award was presented during the academic ceremony commemorating Otto von Guericke's birthday. With this award, the university distinguishes its best scientists and their outstanding research results. Prof. Düzel, site spokesman for the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) at the Magdeburg site and Director of the Institute for Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research, investigates the mechanisms and functional failures of human memory and action control. He was awarded the prize in recognition of his insights with regard to the physiological connection between long-term memory and reward motivation in humans and the underlying encoding principles of memory content.
