Award for Gene Therapy for Children Suffering from Wiskott–Aldrich Syndrome:
The Eva Luise and Horst Köhler Foundation for People with Rare Diseases awarded its Research Award 2011 endowed with 50,000 Euro to an interdisciplinary team: Prof. Dr Christoph Klein, Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the Hannover Medical School (MHH), Professor Dr Christopher Baum, MHH Department Experimental Hematology, Dr Kaan Boztug, Medical University of Vienna, and Professor Dr Christof von Kalle, from the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, who also is active at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg. Together with other colleagues, the team around Prof. Christof von Kalle researched, amongst other things, the genetic landing sites or so-called insertion sites of genetic vectors within chromosomes.
