Mushrooms as Decontamination Tool

Fungi could be used in a targeted manner in the decontamination of soils, air or water bodies. Scientists at the UFZ think that their absorption capacity and adaptability could render them a central element of new biotechnologies. Fungi constitute the majority of living biomass in soils and, in contrast to bacteria, are not dependent on continuous water paths.
