Jülich Research Centre intensifies collaboration with Chinese partners and opens two joint labs in China
Professor Achim Bachem, chairman of the board of the Jülich Research Centre (FZJ), has signed agreements with the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), the CAS, and Xian Jiaotong University. Collaboration with SIMIT in the fields of SQUIDs (superconductive quantum interference devices) and nano-building blocks is to be intensified, and plans are being made to establish a joint laboratory for electron microscopy at the university in Xian. A joint institute is also being planned for research in the fields of nano-science and soft materials.
A delegation of FZJ experts will visit research institutes in December and open two joint FZJ laboratories there. The FZJ laboratory for neutron scattering at the China Institute of Atomic Energy will be overseen by Professor Thomas Brückel, and Professor Knut Urban will lead the FZJ laboratory for electron microscopy at Xian Jiaotong University.
