Farewell to Joachim Szodruch
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has bid farewell to Professor Joachim Szodruch, the executive board member responsible for aeronautics, who is retiring. Before assuming responsibility for the DLR’s aeronautics division in August 2002, Szodruch worked for NASA, Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (now EADS), Airbus and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace Airbus. Szodruch made a decisive contribution to the acquisition of the ATRA DLR research aircraft and its integration into the DLR research fleet. He was also involved in setting up the Centre for Lightweight Construction and introducing air transport systems. His career represents a productive application of DLR expertise in the aeronautical field.
