Becker is KIT CHEO:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Becker has taken up his office as Chief Higher Education Officer (CHEO) and thus as a new member of the extended Executive Board of the KIT. He assumes responsibility for teaching and academic affairs at the KIT. Prof. Becker studied computer sciences at Kaiserslautern University. From 1992 to 1997 he was research associate at the Department for Computer Architecture as well as administrator for the European design project EUROCHIP, both at Kaiserslautern University. After his PhD degree in 1997, he was assistant professor at the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University Darmstadt. In 2001, he was offered a professorship at the Technical University Karlsruhe, where Becker became head of the Institute for Information Processing Technologies at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. He became managing deputy director of the International Department at the University of Karlsruhe and director of the Embedded Systems and Sensors Engineering (ESS) group at the Computer Science Research Center (FZI). Becker received the State Teaching Award of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg in 2004 and is author and co-author of more than 250 publications focusing on architectures and design of embedded electronic systems with diverse projects, amongst them also industrial projects in particular in the automotive industry. Becker is a member of numerous scientific advisory boards and committees. These include Senior Membership of the IEEE as well as his collaboration in the Editorial Board of IEEE Transaction on Computers and in the Executive Committee of the IEEE's German section.
